First Teeth Cleaning

Hinton had a dentist appointment this morning -
which included his first teeth cleaning!

Flat Stanley visited the dentist too.

When we pulled into the parking lot Hinton said, "It's the dinosaur doctor!" And, indeed, there are a lot of big dinosaurs in the the play area of the waiting room. It amazes me that he remembers those types of things. We haven't been to his dentist in over 6 months. We didn't have much time to play before his appointment so I let him (and Flat Stanley) play a little bit more after his appointment was over.

New Room

Brandon and Hinton went to Sutherlin this weekend, which gave me the opportunity to get Hinton (and all his stuff) moved into the back bedroom. Finally!

"Snow Day"

We had a little bit of snow today.

Hinton thought it was a lot of fun!

"Farm"

Hinton has a "farm" toy that he likes to play with a lot. It is very similar to the toy that was my favorite at Grandma and Grandpa Fellows' house growing up.

The point of the game is to navigate a bunch of marbles through the different levels. The brainy kid figured out that his version of the game has (what I consider to be) a "trap door" and the marbles all fit into the roof of the barn. I was stunned (and impressed!) the first time he handed me the game and all the marbles seemed to have completely disappeared. The game I played with as a kid didn't do that! Or if it did, I was never smart enough to figure it out.

Valentine's Day

Hinton got a couple presents for Valentine's Day.

New puzzles!

A Toy Story stamp kit.

And stickers!

This afternoon we frosted the cookies we made yesterday.

Flat Stanley also celebrated Valentine's Day with us.
(He is visiting from Japan.)

Holding On

I found Hinton sleeping like this last night -
holding the ball behind his back.

Pre-Valentine's Day

In preparation for Valentine's Day,
we made some sugar cookies yesterday afternoon.

And later we made pizza for dinner.

"Hide and Seek"

I think Hinton has forgotten how Hide and Seek works. These days at our house, he likes to climb up on the couch and be covered completely in a blanket. Because he can't see us he says he is playing "Hide and Seek".

He decided to play it last night at bed time too.

I had to unbury him when I went to
check on him after he went to bed.

Preschool Art Projects

I like to take pictures of Hinton's preschool art projects.
(That way I feel less guilty if I decide to toss, er, recycle them.)

Fall projects

Halloween ghosts

His cross-eyed looking Thanksgiving turkey.
(He insisted that the turkey have two eyes.)

A candle to light a holiday meal.

First attempt at using chopsticks

I was using chopsticks when Hinton and I were eating lunch today, and he wanted to try too. As luck would have it, he actually got a pair of Thomas chopsticks for Christmas (sent from Japan)! I don't think he succeeded in getting any food to his mouth using the chopsticks, but he certainly had fun trying.

Preschool Project

This week there was an interesting craft project at preschool. The kids got to create whatever they wanted with Playdough, dry spaghetti, and Cheerios.

Most of the other kids stuck a bunch of pieces of spaghetti into their piece of Playdough, but didn't do much with the Cheerios. Hinton, on the other hand, would stick a piece of spaghetti into his Playdough and then stack Cheerios on it until it completely disappeared.

I really think this is Hinton's favorite part of the morning:
helping teacher Jane roll up the Circle Time rug!

Table Train

Hinton came to book club with me tonight. The clever boy made his train extra-long by putting a spoon between Thomas and Annie and another between Annie and Clarabel. Because the trains are magnetic, it worked! Everyone found it quite entertaining.
